Ship: CAD comparison

Task

Large hull elements of 10m length and more are frequently assembled at supplier sites. The complete ship dimensions must be verified to assure a trouble free assembly.

Procedure

Magnetic targets are attached to the hull element. Several photogrammetric scales are placed on or next to the object. About 400 photos are taken in rapid succession. The coordinate system can be determined by arbitrary geometric features. With just a few mouse clicks the corresponding CAD model can be imported and comprehensive reports are created.

Result

The supplier can take corrective action if necessary. The conformity of the hull element is documented for the customer.
